About Lisa Tucotte BS CEMT
Greetings! I am a dedicated equine massage therapist driven by a profound affection for horses. I firmly believe in reciprocating the immense contributions these majestic animals make to our lives.
Before embarking on my current path, I enjoyed a thriving career as a project manager and technical support engineer at a prominent multi-million dollar software company. However, the pressures of corporate life began to take a toll on my well-being. Seeking solace and healing, I turned to my enduring passion for horses, ultimately making the life-altering decision to forsake my lucrative corporate career.
During this transformative phase, I had the privilege of forging a deep connection with my cherished horse, Fizz, an American Saddlebred adopted from Saddlebred Rescue. Regrettably, in 2014, I faced the heart-rending choice to euthanize him. Although he is no longer with me in physical form, his spirit endures, eternally etched in my heart. His legacy serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of compassion and making judicious decisions for our cherished equine companions. It was during this period that I came to appreciate the profound therapeutic potential of horses and their transformative impact on our lives.
In the autumn of 2014, I welcomed Westwing, affectionately known as “W,” into my life. W was a retired “A” circuit hunter who had suffered an injury and required a tranquil home. Despite being the antithesis of my initial expectations, W imparted invaluable lessons. Shortly after his arrival, he was diagnosed with “Kissing Spine,” a condition stemming from suboptimal riding techniques in his previous life.
Determined to facilitate W’s recuperation, I delved into the realm of alternative therapies. Through diligent research, I encountered the Masterson Method and began implementing its techniques in W’s daily care regimen. To my astonishment, I discovered an innate ability to identify and address muscular knots in his back.
Regrettably, as time passed, W’s health declined, leading to a multitude of health issues that caused him substantial pain and discomfort. It was a heart-wrenching decision, but in 2018, I made the painful choice to euthanize him. My utmost priority was to ensure that W did not endure any further suffering.
This pivotal experience ignited my fervor for equine massage therapy and set me on a path of continuous learning and growth. In 2018, I proudly graduated from the Bancroft School of Massage, with a specialized focus on equine therapy. The knowledge and skills acquired during this period have empowered me to provide comprehensive care and support to horses in pain, assisting them in finding comfort and restoring their range of motion.
I also have the honor of serving as the Equine Program Administrator and an instructor at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, where I continue to impart my expertise and passion for equine massage therapy to future practitioners.
Further solidifying my commitment to the field, I am privileged to be a member of the board for NBCAAM.org, where I actively contribute to the advancement and regulation of equine massage therapy standards.
Continuing my unwavering commitment to excellence, I pursued additional education in various modalities. I expanded my expertise through coursework in Equine Manual Lymph Drainage, Applied Kinesiology Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Equine Acupressure. By consistently augmenting my skill set, I am dedicated to serving as many equines and their owners as possible, ensuring their well-being and enriching their lives.
I am enthusiastic about sharing my passion, knowledge, and skills with you. Whether your horse serves as a cherished companion, a competitive athlete, or a therapy partner, I am here to provide tailored, holistic care to meet their individual needs. Together, let us embark on a journey of healing, well-being, and revitalization for your equine companion.
In addition to my role as an equine massage therapist and educator, I am the proud owner of Forest, a registered American Saddlebred. Forest holds a special place in my heart as he symbolizes a message from my late mother. He is an inquisitive, sensitive, and spirited individual with immense potential. Once fully trained, he is destined to excel. Through my profound connection with Forest, I am reminded of the profound bond between horses and humans and the joy they bring into our lives.
Thank you for visiting my website. My future endeavors include furthering my education to extend my capacity to assist numerous equines and their owners. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to support you and your horse on this remarkable journey.
